This year we are celebrating the 10th anniversary of the #nfcdab project, which could not exist without the trust of the artists. The idea was born at a time when not everyone was aware of the coming revolution in the reception of digital content caused by the advent of smartphones. In 2014, QR codes or NFC tags were a technology on the verge of becoming commonplace, and the same was true of wireless Internet and unfettered access to the Internet. 10 years later, we are in very different times. That’s why we trusted the idea of DIWO, which is an important element of this - let’s not be afraid to use the word: “research” project. The whole concept would not have been possible thanks to the help from browserbased.org and noemata.net in the persons of Zsolt Mesterhazy and Bjþrn Magnhildþen, I must also mention Brian Khuu being our Australian liaison to the antipodes, and I want to thank the many people who have helped us over the years in organizing our shows: Konstantina Mavridou, Radovan Misovic aka Rad0, Tibor Horvath, Florian Kuhlmann.

Near-Field Communication Digital Art Biennale aka #nfcdab
#nfcdab is a DIY or DIWO [DO IT WITH OTHER]? Digital art biennale that travels on wireless technologies, light waves and electromagnetic fields e.g.: Wi-Fi routers, QR codes or NFC tags to access content. the idea of the biennale is to take advantage of the potential of near-field (mis)communication[sic!] and other sharing technologies for making web-based digital art accessible in outdoors settings. it slack-keeps presence next to the frameworks of galleries and institutions.

Project title:
“Leise-Park”.

Project description:
We invite online artists to participate in our disturbing project entitled “Leise-Park”. In this project, we want to explore the issue of silence as an opposition to the anxiety we may feel in the context of the development of various digital trends and Internet technologies. The pervasive availability of mobile devices for spreading content and ideas through all types of Internet-based media, creates a sense of loss of self-control resulting from the pervasive information chaos. Our beloved smartphones are beginning to turn us into a kind of zombie addicted to absorbing information content from the Internet. What consequences does this have for us as well as for further social evolution? Do the emotions that accompany us at this moment allow us to analyze this phenomenon. Can we face this new reality? Can artists help us understand what currently surrounds and shapes us. Can we find distance from the world around us and calm down, or will we become technological zombies? That’s why in the “Leise-Park” project we want to ask this question to artists who are willing to take part in our project with their work. Like all our projects this one too is based on the idea of DIY and DIWO.
We often think of the park as a place with sculptures, traditionally made of stone, here those sculptures are to be works displayed on the smartphones of the show’s viewers. Access to the links via a poster with a QR code pasted on a cardboard presenter cut to resemble a plant plaque. Presenters with the artists’ works will be placed at various locations in Leise-Park. The show will run from February 2 - 4, 2024 and is part of the Vorspiel project, which is an initiative of transmediale and CTM Festival to showcase the richness and diversity of Berlin. So we invite you, as part of our project, to a creative exploration of a former Berlin cemetery turned into a publicly accessible Leise-Park.

“Leise-Park”

Projektbeschreibung:

It will be as “wrong” as uncommon. First embassy of “The Wrong”: “#nfcdabatthewrong” in the “CIRCLE/TRIANGLE Modern Art Gallery” in the “RECEPTION” club in Wroclaw.
Embassy #nfcdabatthewrong is a combination of #nfcdab and “The Wrong”. Both of them escape categorization. “The Wrong”, as a biennial, is inappropriate and unconventional, but still “legendary”. It is a new biennial of digital art artists from all over the world. The #nfcdab project, in turn, carries digital art on mobile devices and reads it from QR codes. This bizarre conglomerate of “#nfcdabatthewrong” will take place in newly created gallery “CIRCLE/TRIANGLE Modern Art Gallery” located in the club “RECEPTION” at 46C Ruska Street in Wroclaw. The date is not accidental. It is a time when contacts with curiosities through the “medium” are already a common occurrence.
Project #nfcdab (Communication of the Near Field - Digital Explosion of Art) is an independent project straight from Wroclaw. “The Wrong” is as global as the Internet. The #nfcdab is more ludic, it is connected with the place, meeting people and communion with new technologies for artistic purposes. #nfcdab, as a biennial of mobile digital art, has so far conquered a number of European cities, such as Gol in Norway, Amsterdam, Valencia, Dusseldorf, Warsaw - and now it will come back to Wroclaw with a big bang!
The first of a series of experimental exhibitions will start on November 1st at “CIRCLE/TRIANGLE Modern Art Gallery” in the “RECEPTION” club. The works of 33 Polish and foreign digital and Internet artists will be presented by means of artistic posters with QR codes (graphic representation of machine code) and NFC tags (system of short-range communication). The contact with the works is made possible by an electronic medium, such as a smartphone or tablet. It is enough to scan the QR code placed on the poster or bring the phone closer to an electronic chip.

YOUR PHONE IS YOUR GALLERY FOR THE PRESENTED WORKS!!!!

nfcwproject:

Dear Artists #nfcdab,

we would like to invite you to take part in the next #nfcdab shows, this time within frame of The Wrong - New Digital Art Biennale.

This year, the exhibition will be realized as an online pavilion and embassy in a series of shows in several locations in Wrocław. The presentation of the works will start from November 1, 2019 up to March 1, 2020. More information about the exhibition venues will be provided at the end of September 2019.

As a part of this year’s edition of “#nfcdab@thewrong”, we want to present works from all previous editions of # nfcdab. Some of the works from last shows are no longer available on the web. Therefore, a kind request for artists - let us know how we can restore your works for the time of the planned exhibition. In addition to archival work, you will also be able to submit new proposals. Open call is also open to new artists who want to take part in our project.

The works must be adapted to mobile devices such as smartphones or tablets. We will present all types of Internet activity such as websites, videos, images, games and mobile applications, as well as social media activities, music, bots, AI and all kinds of texts (due to technological limitations, we approve only 100 characters for NFC tags and 356 characters for QR codes).

During “#nfcdab@thewrong” we want to present any kind of art based on a digital network that expresses and interacts with the dynamic and dispersed form of P2P (peer-to-peer), realized by means of electromagnetic, light and wireless technologies.

Do It With Others / Zrób To Z Innymi.

Submission Guidelines:
